It is never too early to plan a vacation. After all, family members have agendas and calendars to be consulted that can spread over several months. Also, it may take a while to discuss what kind of family vacation you would like to go on; how long your vacation will be; and where you want to go. Then there is booking airplane flights, cruise ships, hotels and motels, restaurants, road trips, etc. Not to mention having the money for your vacation in the family coffers.
OK, you’ve made all your decision, everything is in order, and you are ready to go. Don’t forget to make arrangements for the below before you leave:
- If you have pets – you need to book a pet sitter or decide to take them with you.
- Stop the mail and newspapers while you are gone.
- Hire a house sitter – a realtor might be able to help you with that and who will look after your house plants.
- If you go overseas there are passports to update and appointments for booster shots.
You get the idea that planning a vacation can be overwhelming with so many decisions to be made. If the time is not right, then consider opting for a day trips overnighter, or long weekends get-away right here in New Jersey. You get to enjoy being on vacation and still stay home. There are many such events right here at home (www.nj.com) that can be educational, entertaining and just plain fun.
